On August 17, 1984  Sheena:  The Queen of the Jungle opened in theaters.

This 1980s action-adventure movie had a big budget of $25 million dollars but flopped at the box office grossing just over #5 million dollars.

The movie was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards including Worst Picture, Worst Actress, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Musical Score.  Sheena eventually found a cult following and did well in home video sales.

Sheena, the Queen of the Jungle is based on a comic book character that dates back to the 1930s.

Sheena, played by Tanya Roberts is considered a female version of Tarzan.

She was raised by the Zambouli tribe in the fictional African country of Tigora.  Sheenan fights to save the village from a wicked prince in this cartoonist adventure.

Sheena was Voted Worst Picture at the 1984 Raspberry Awards
